Great Diapers August 9, 2010 EskimoGal We decided to use re-useable diapers and tried thirsty's and bum genius. The thirsty's didn't meet our needs as well as bum genius. The bum genius have been great-no problems with cleaning or leakings. The diapers are wonderful!!!
Wonderful Diaper! July 21, 2010 Arvaan's Mommy I did a lot of research on cloth vs. disposable diapers before having my baby and I kept reading great reviews on the BG 3.0's so I with Amazon gift cards in hand and only $50 out of pocket splurged on these. I'm soooo glad I did. These diapers rock. My baby is now 6 months old and still using them and no leakages so far. The diapers do tend to have a funny smell after a while but I started putting just a little bleach in the wash twice a month and have had no problems (diluted first of course). I also traveled to India with these and just a word of advice in any hot/humid weather, make sure you air your babies bum out in between diapering. He did get a heat rash on his bum due to the extremely hot weather there and I used the regular cheap Gerber cloth prefolds with no diaper cover and he healed in a few hours. Also, I don't recommend using this with newborns as the meconium can stain them. The size does run a little large for smaller babies (mine was born at 5.5lbs) so I used the BG bamboo xs for the first few weeks with a Thirsties diaper cover.
Very Good Alternative Diapers July 17, 2010 BossMom The bum genius diapers took all the fear out of using cloth diapers. sure, we're doing a lot more laundry, but the diapers and liners are quick drying, they fit well, and they really absorb a lot. Because of the bulk of the diaper he does have to wear clothes that are maybe a little big for him, but that's not a big deal at all. the way he goes through diapers, it's nice not going to the store all the time to throw diapers away that are just going to full up landfills.
I love these diapers! March 21, 2010 M. Quintanilla (Los Angeles) We've been using these on our 3 month old for a couple months now. He was born about 5lb and they didn't fit until he was about 9lb (and even then were quite bulky looking). My only complaint is that if he lays on his side for too long they leak out.
working mom March 18, 2010 Sarah C. Mulder (Michigan) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We started using Bum Genius and two other brand pocket diapers when our daughter was about 9 pounds now she's close to 30 pounds. Bum genius was the only one that fit her well and they still fit. I know a few other moms have had better luck with other brands. It may be helpful to experiment until you find a diaper that fits your little one the best.
Our daughter is now two and still wearing the same set of diapers. They have held up beautifully to washing and both dryer and line drying (two summers). We had delusions about using diaper liners when we started to help with the poo. Don't bother. It doesn't work but the diapers are very easily cleaned even with minimal spraying and no soaking especially when she was little.
We used regular detergent and had no problems. We have also had minimal diaper rashes.
We travel with our Bum genius and a dry bag and the diapers are grandparent and babysitter approved. Our daycare even let us use them there.
I should also say that as a pediatrician I see a lot of babies in a lot of different kinds of diapers. They all leak sometimes, they get rashes, there will always be poo but I am very glad that we tried and stuck with the Bum Genius. Now I'll be packing them away for baby number two and I am so glad that I don't even know where the diaper isle is in the grocery store.
