Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Imse Vimse Bumpy Wool Diaper Cover is a truly unique wool cover. One of the only wool covers you can wash in your washing machine! This cover is made of 2 layers of soft, natural felted wool with super soft Velcro closures and leg gussets. The wool keeps the moisture in, yet allows for air to circulate keeping your baby dry and cool. Bumpy Wool covers work best with an occasional wool cure in lanolin to help to keep them water resistant. Because they wick moisture away from the skin, these covers are perfect for overnight protection and ideal for babies with sensitive skin. Newborn (6.5-13 lbs)

5 out of 5 stars Survives Laundry "oopses" and otherwise Amazes   June 25, 2010

I was very, very skeptical about wool diaper covers, and have found them to be all that and a bag of chips, so to speak. This one is especially wonderful for that clumsy, sleep deprived, world-turned-upside down time of the first few weeks of being a first time parent.

I thought these looked huge and the instructions weren't clear on whether they were pre-lanolized ... and I was skeptical ... so I didn't open these until I'd run out of clean Thirsties.

and WOW. First one was a long-sleeping night, during which he saturated his diaper, and not only did his clothes feel dry - the diaper cover did too!

The things I keep bragging about to people who don't really want to know:
-- Yep everything stays dry, even with a totally saturated diaper underneath (we use cotton flats, snappied underneath).
-- They say to take it off, and let it dry before using again but I've put it back on repeatedly through an entire day without the cover itself feeling damp.
-- Poo (even newborn, breastfed poo) comes off well.
-- I strongly dislike pull-on covers so the Velcro is great
-- Awesome gussets keep poo off clothes
-- He does seem to stay cooler than in his Thirsties since it breathes (seems odd to be cool in wool but yes, really!).
-- Might be coincidence but our midwife said she'd not seen a circumcision heal so fast (I think it's the air circulation).
-- They are SO soft!
-- The rough parts of the Velcro don't ever touch his skin
-- I know immediately when he needs a diaper change - you feel a teensy bit of humidity, but it's just water by that point because the lanolin neutralized the urine, and it's not enough to make his clothes wet. You can also smell what's up.
-- Has been washed the wrong way and put into the dryer, and is just fine.

Warnings:
-- Our little one was nearly 9 pounds when he started wearing it and it was hard to get it closed snugly
-- It would cover the umbilical stump on a brand new newborn (some like this, I wouldn't).

Overall: totally worth the investment. I got 3 and since he was 2 weeks old have rarely needed to use his Thirsties (I just put Thirsties on when I expect a poo, to make laundry easier).

5 out of 5 stars great product, sizing off   May 1, 2009

As with all Imse Vimse products, the sizing is off, so don't expect this to fit a newborn. Try premie size if you want it for a newborn. Truly great products though: longevity, softness. The wool is very soft. The velcro is aplix, so it's the nice kind that doesn't collect pills/lint and doesn't degrade with washing. And, the same benefit of all wool diapering products: no odor retention. These won't need washed much, so you don't need to buy as many either, but don't forget to relanolize to maintain waterproofness.
