Amazon.com Product Description A baby in disposable diapers puts an average of 6,000 diapers into the landfills by the time he or she is potty trained -- and those plastic-based diapers take about 500 years to decompose. What's an environmentally conscious parent to do? With gDiapers, you can have the convenience of disposable diapers and avoid doing damage to the planet. In fact, gDiapers even help the environment. Get started with this gDiapers Starter Kit, which can be used on babies 13 to 28 pounds in weight. | gDiapers offer: - Flushable, decomposable diapers that offer an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional disposables
- Breathable, non-plastic diapering system that keeps baby's skin healthier
- Starter Kit that contains everything you need to begin using gDiapers
| | | | Flushable, Decomposable Diapers The gDiaper consists of a machine-washable, reusable cotton "little g pant" and a snap-in, reusable waterproof liner, which contains the diaper refill. These refills are decomposable. Containing no plastic products, they're made from sustainably farmed wood fluff pulp, sodium polyacrylate (SAP), which provides absorbency, and cellulose rayon. And they can be flushed down the toilet, which has a couple of wonderful benefits. First, it eliminates the need to keep smelly diapers around in a diaper pail. Second, it keeps unnecessary waste out of the landfills. And finally, the entire contents of the diaper gets processed by sewage treatment plants, which return treated, completely sanitized solids to be converted into valuable fertilizer. It's recycling at its best! If you're unable to flush the liners, they can still be thrown in the trash without guilt, since they will decompose in 50 to 150 days -- a much better turnaround than their plastic counterparts. And, if you're a gardener, you can simply throw the wet liners in your compost bin. (Note: for sanitary reasons, never put poopy diapers in the compost.) As Easy As Traditional Disposables -- but Healthier The "little g pant" itself sports an adorable style and trim silhouette, and it's available in several cool colors. With easy-to-use rear Velcro closures, the little g pant is just as easy to put on a baby as traditional disposable diapers -- no pins to deal with here. Plus, its breathable qualities help keep baby's skin healthier by minimizing diaper rash. Tips for Successful gDiaper Use Some plumbing systems may have problems with the flushable liners, including systems with tree-infested pipes; non-standard plumbing systems, including grinders or house traps; and septic tanks, which require close monitoring to make sure the outflow is clear. It is recommended that only poopy diapers be put into septic systems, and wet ones be composted. But even if your plumbing system won't accept the gDiaper flushables, you can always simply throw them in the trash where they'll quickly decompose, making a much more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional disposable diapers. | Stock up on flushable diaper refills: | |
Product Description Little gPants are breathable and comfy. Your little bug will love the stretch around the waist and legs. Soft velcro tabs close around the back away from little hands for a great fit without the bulk. When choosing the mixed pack colors will vary.

Cute but leaks almost every time September 3, 2010 A. Hauser (California, USA) We loved the way these little pants look and the whole system seemed so elegant. Except every single time we used our g diapers, they leaked. Even after 1 hour of our son wearing the diapers they would leak through his clothes. We tried different liners, tried turning the diaper around, putting double liners in, and nothing worked. So finally we had to give up and use a different brand. So sad because they are so cute looking, they just don't work, at least not for our boy!
Helpful, fun, easy-to-use alternative to disposable diapers August 19, 2010 snelliott My husband and I have been using gDiapers with both the cloth and disposable inserts since our 4 month old son was born. We are a big fan! Yes, the diaper change takes probably 20-30 seconds longer, but it's totally worth it: I'm not kidding when I say that he's only had ONE poopy diaper leak while wearing a gDiaper, and that was because he was being held in a funny position on someone's lap. In comparison, when he happens to be wearing a regular disposable diaper (about once a week) he's had at least eight leaks!
the waist is STIFF, and the tabs leave red marks August 16, 2010 genkki I tried these for a couple weeks. They are a little inconvenient but I wanted to like them because I received several at my baby shower.
The elastic waistband is very wide, very stiff and not very stretchy. The size Small wouldn't fit my 10 pound baby comfortably. The elastic didn't stretch to fit her. It just squished her. After wearing the diaper her waist was very red and raw looking. The thick elastic is folded and sewn down in a few places and the folded section is even harder and rougher than the single layer areas. I tried angling the tabs upwards but they still dug into her thighs when she sat or had her legs up.
The tabs for the nylon liner always left marks on her. I couldn't justify using the diapers any longer. I switched to a 'biodegradable' disposable diaper until I can find a better alternative.
Much easier than I thought it would be August 8, 2010 Lissette Ortega (Atlanta, GA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thought long and hard about buying cloth diapers. Mainly, I was worried about the mess, the work associated with the task. Especially, I was worried about the convenience I would lose by giving up disposable diapers. But who has not thought about the effects on the planet and, when you get down to it, the expense in buying disposable diapers. So, when I had my third child (who is now 8-months-old) I decided I would make the change. We have been using them for 8 weeks and I can't say enough about them. At first I started with just 2 gDiapers, and 6 cloth inserts. We did well, but after using them for a week, I realized that the fit was not right. We were getting too many poopy diapers and liners during the day. But even with the larger fit, we were saving about 5 (disposable) diapers a day. Encouraging.
A few lessons from the past 8 weeks:
The fit: Make sure that you estimate a size that will give you some wear on diapers. The mediums we bought go up to 28 lbs, so that should take us until he's first birthday. We hope.
Convenience: Yes, it is a commitment. But just think of the money you are saving! I always tell myself that when I am disposing of the poop in the toilet. I have done well when we travel by carrying little ziplocs with me to store the dirty diapers until we are home. If you don't want to deal with the "trouble" on the road, there are disposable refills available that are biodegradable.gDiapers Flushable Refills, Medium/Large, 32-Count Bags (Pack of 4) But I have not used them as much because I am trying to fully commit to the cloth for a while and cut expenses. A bonus: No rashes because the fabric is so light.
How many: I began with 2 diapers gDiapers Little gPants, 2 Pack, Mediumand 6 cloth refillsgDiapers gCloth Inserts, Medium/Large, 6-Count. After a month, I decided to buy a 6 pack of diapers and another pack of 6 refills. I preset 3 diapers every morning and have available liners at the changing table. The liners will get poopy, so better to have more available. Having the extra gDiapers available has been trick in making this work. I bought a cheap garbage can with a lid and I drop all the dirty diapers in there throughout the day. Then I put them all in the wash with hot water at night.
The look: I do like how these look compared to other brands such as Bum Genius and others. And these velcro in the back, so my little genius does not figure out how to take it off in the middle of the night. We have stuck with the orange and white ones for now. Hope I was able to help!

The way to go August 5, 2010 charlie Could not have found better diapers. They are really cute, really practical, and very gentle on the skin of my 4 month old son. No bleached fibers, nice breathable fabric. Not a rash since he was born. Love the fact that the inserts are biodegradable and flush easily down the toilet once torn in half. More expensive than disposables but worth the extra expense. Did not want to compromise on the comfort of my baby's buttocks nor on his opportunity to enjoy a clean planet as he grows up.
